C&A launched their first cradle to cradle certifiedt-shirt last month. A very exciting step into a more circular fashion world! I will definitely go to C&A to check out the quality and fit of the shirt, and when in need of a new t-shirt: consider buying one of them. But, what got me thinking is the price: it's only 7 euros. I'm very curious how it is possible to produce a cradle to cradle certified shirt for only 7 euros, does that mean somewhere along the production line costs were cut dramatically? I know big players in the market have the money and power to start the change that the fashion industry desperately needs, but it feels double to me: they are the reason we ended up where we are now, and their biggest aim still is to make as much profit as possible. But then I keep thinking 'someone needs to start! And nothing is perfect from the beginning!', so I'm torn in this: I don't know if I should call this greenwashing (with an A for effort) or a very big step towards a circular/sustainable fashion industry. All in all, I'm excited about this shirt and will keep my doubts to myself (on this website ha!).
